Your Business, Your Voice, Your City

The next municipal election for Mayor and City Council is October 17, 2026, and it's set to shape the direction of this city for the next four years.

Business owners and the people who work in Vancouver's commercial districts have a unique perspective on what's working across the city and what needs to change. Whether it's public safety, transit, permitting, or how the city supports small business, the priorities of the business community deserve a seat at the table as candidates build their platforms.

The Vancouver BIA Partnership is collaborating on municipal election initiatives including a Municipal Election Forum and Municipal Election Survey for BIA members including local business owners and commercial property owners.

We are deeply grateful to the Mayoral candidates, fellow party candidates, and BIA guests that were able to attend the Municipal Election Forum.

The Mayoral candidates including Kareem Allam, Rebecca Bligh, Pete Fry, Colleen Hardwick and Ken Sim, participated in an insightful and timely discussion on key issues affecting businesses across the city, including public safety, cost of doing business, permitting and city hall, long-term business viability and economic resilience, and business resources and representation.

Special thanks to our moderator Justin P. Goodrich, the team at The Dance Centre and Ono Vancouver Catering for their valuable contribution and elevating the entire experience!

We understand this is a very active time, and we greatly appreciate the survey input, forum participation and everyone involved in these impactful initiatives.

We will continue to collaborate and advocate to support local businesses, and conditions that support strong and vibrant retail neighbourhoods.
